There are various differences from the storyline of One Piece between the anime and manga versions. One proof of the success of a series, especially manga, is when the series is adapted in the form of animation, aka anime. This certainly makes the series more popular in the eyes of the fans. Because, there are some fans who prefer to watch the anime version rather than the manga.
Even so, the fact is that the anime version sometimes doesn’t present interesting and important things like the manga version. Sometimes there are minor differences or details presented in the anime version, which make the anime and manga versions different. Besides that, there are also various other unique and interesting things where the anime version doesn’t have that. Here are the various differences between anime and manga from One Piece.
Portgas D. Ace Travel Stories
In the Wano arc, it is known that Ace made it to Wano before he joined Whitebeard’s pirate group. However, fans who only watched the anime might never know that Ace previously had his own adventures when he first appeared as a pirate. Ace’s initial story as a pirate then appears in a number of short novels.
The first novel tells how Ace formed the Spades pirates and how he got the Mera Mera devil fruit. The second novel tells more about his adventures in finding Blackbeard’s whereabouts, until he is introduced by canon in Alabasta. What is also different from Ace is the tattoo on his back that has changed.

The Story of Zeff’s Lost Legs
When Zeff was first introduced in the anime, he told a story about his having to lose part of his leg. In the anime version, Zeff had to lose his leg after being caught in a trap due to helping Sanji. This forced Zeff to cut off his own leg. However, in the manga version the story is drastically different. In a flashback from Sanji’s past, he and Zeff are shown stranded on an island.
Zeff also had time to give Sanji his last meal, while then he went to another part of the island to look for passing ships. After many days, Zeff came back and Sanji saw that he had lost a leg. Apparently, it is known that Zeff ate his own leg because it was the only way to survive. This moment never appears in the anime.
The Destruction of Whitebeard’s Face
The climax battle at Marineford is one of the most memorable moments for fans as well as being one of the major battles in the series. In this battle, we witness many touching and sad moments. Starting from the awakening of Conqueror Haki Luffy, until the death of Ace and Whitebeard. Naturally, if this becomes one of the biggest battles in the series.
Speaking of Whitebeard there was a stark difference from the injuries he had sustained. In the anime version, Whitebeard is shown being attacked multiple times by Blackbeard and his crew. Not to mention the several fatal chest attacks carried out by Sakazuki, which burned part of his mustache. In the manga version, Oda shows that it’s not just his mustache that’s burnt or missing. Sakazuki completely destroyed part of Whitebeard’s face.
The Wound on Luffy’s Face
Where did the wounds on Luffy’s face come from? For geeks who have only watched the anime, maybe this only became known in episode 878. However, in the manga version, this moment has happened even since the beginning of the chapter. In the story, Luffy tries to convince Shanks that he is old enough to be able to go on an adventure and sail with them.
Luffy then proves this in an extreme way, namely injuring his own face. Shanks and the Red Hair Pirates were shocked by what Luffy did. Even so, they still respect Luffy and consider them as comrades. Currently, the fans themselves are looking forward to the reunion between Luffy and Shanks.

Arlong demands a ransom from all the villagers of Cocoyashi, who, if they refuse, will be immediately executed.
Bell-Mere could have survived this event herself, if only she had paid for it herself. Because Arlong didn’t know if Bell-Mere had Nami and Nojiko. Because of this, Arlong then shot Bell-Mere in front of Nami and Nojiko’s eyes. In the manga version, Arlong shoots Bell-Mere in the head. Meanwhile, in the anime version Arlong shoots him in the chest.
Luffy vs Kaido fight
Luffy’s fight against Kaido is one of the epic battles presented in the One Piece story. This is the highlight of the fight in the Wano Country arc. Luffy himself tries to beat Kaido in the attack on Onigashima. Even so, actually before this peak battle Luffy had also often tried to face Kaido but always failed.
In the battle on Onigashima between Luffy and Kaido there is a moment that is different between the anime and the manga. In the manga version, Kaido’s fight against Luffy ends very quickly. Kaido doesn’t take any damage from Gear 4 Luffy at all. In fact, he lost in one of Kaido’s attacks. Meanwhile, in the anime version, the two characters had clashed attacks even for a moment and Luffy still lost in this fight.
